& you’re a what?!

September 10, 2007

I was talking to the 3rd period seniors today, & I almost said, “You can write however big-ly you want.” What ended up coming out was, “You can write however bigl . . . largely you want.”

You don’t know how many times I’ve heard, “& you’re a Linguistics major?!” in the past 5 years, or “& you’re an English teacher?!” in the past few weeks.  But I don’t mind those comments; they’re well-deserved :]

What would really torture me, though, is if someone ever observed my life &, in conclusion, said to me, “& you’re a Christian?!” or “& you call yourself a Christian?!”

That would cut deep.

“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling you which you have been called . . .” (Ephesians 4:1)

“& so, from the day we hard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom & understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work & increasing in the knowledge of God.” (Colossians 1:9-10)
