Cake in a mug.

July 22, 2010

A few days ago, I saw this recipe online for a five-minute chocolate mug cake.  This one is worth sharing.  All you need are basic baking ingredients, some chocolate (we used the Trader Joe’s truffles Moon brought over a few weeks ago), a mug, and a microwave.

Last night as I was telling Kimmy about it, we suddenly decided to give it a go, half as enthusiasts, half as skeptics.  Bake a cake in 5 minutes, without an oven, in a mug?  Sounds too good to be true. And on our way over to the kitchen, Cindy came home and joined in on the experiment, too.  (Court, we miss you!)

Here’s what it looked like, all mixed up and ready for the microwave:

And here it is, post-microwave (and post-a few bites):

We ate it “a la mode” with sliced pieces of frozen banana.  Mmm, no longer skeptics.  We hope mug cakes will happen more often at Apt 14, but hopefully less often at 11 pm …
